A BRIEF HISTORY OF HUMAN STUPIDITY AND GENIUS

This work is concisely about human stupidity and genius. I talk about the boundary between these two characteristics. Humankind almost every time comes up with the solutions for its own problems. I’m fascinated by the fact that a problem has to reach a critical point for us to realize it and push for solving it. I made a brief timeline from the era of homo sapiens up to the present and I photographed subjects that correspond with my timeline.

The main source of inspiration is a book Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. The name of my project – A Brief History of Human Stupidity and Genius – is an homage to this book and the author.

The aim of the work is to show the dominance of naivety in our lives. We arrived to the point where we have all the power and all the resources for working towards a more sustainable way of life. Yet our own comfort, our ego and desire for wealth is still our main focus.
