Jakub Michal Teringa
Photographer based in Bratislava, Slovakia / working wherever needed. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts & Design in Bratislava, Jakub Michal Teringa leads an independent practice bridging fashion editorial, portraiture, and product photography.
Operating entirely outside the conventional studio, his work is rooted in raw, location based execution. For fashion and portraiture, this draws him into unpolished outdoor environments, ranging from eerie and often nocturnal woods and empty fields to the liminal edges of suburbs. For product photography, this out of studio approach manifests as shooting directly within clients’ ateliers or various raw spaces, constructing tactile sets on-site that embrace the exposed imperfections of the space itself.
Driven by a dark palette and sharp, direct light, his imagery uses harsh contrast to reveal a distinct authenticity. This is evident whether he is capturing an honest portrayal of the person in front of the lens or accentuating the structural and material honesty of his subjects.
